1965 Chrysler 300 Convertible

General Information

The car was built in September, 1964 and used as an Executive Car in the Los Angeles area then sold from Canoga Chrysler Plymouth in Canoga Park, CA in December, 1965. Options include: Factory A/C, Power Windows, Power Vent Wings, Power Seats, Fully Reclining Passenger's Seat, Bucket Seats with Console and Console Mounted Vacuum Gauge, and AM/FM Radio with Rear Speaker Fade. Based on figures I've found online, this car cost around $5,400 when new in '65. That was quite a bit of money for a car back then. I found the car in 2005 in Las Vegas. The car had just changed hands from the original owners in Vegas where the car had sat parked with the top down since 1980. The Vegas sun did a number on the interior but the dry climate preserved all the sheet metal so there was ZERO rust. I purchased it for $2,000 and drove it as I bought it for about a year to local cruise nights. I tore it down to a rolling shell in 2006 and began a very detailed four year restoration. I learned a lot about these cars durning the course of the restoration and really left no stone unturned. It is basically a brand new car and it drives like one. Since the restoration it has won many local awards, most notably, the 300 and 300 Letter Car Class at the 2011 Mopar Spring Fling in Van Nuys, CA. I was also lucky enough to have an 8 page spread of the car in the Winter, 2011 Issue of Motor Trend Classic.

That is a beautiful car Rexus and I can see from your photo's you didn't get it that way. Nicely done.

That's very nice. Very impressive restoration. Having the before and after pictures show the dramatic difference.

I meant, all the restoration yourself? The upholstery, all the body work, the engine, etc.? Really an amazing transformation.

I did all the disassembly and reassembly. I left the Short block, trans rebuild, rear diff rebuild, paint and body, seat covers and convertible top to the pros. I did everything else.

Thanks, Bob. The quarter glass is specific to the convertibles but I think all the Chrysler/Plymouth convertible glass is the same '65-'68 but I could be mistaken. The doors should all be the same as well but the rake on the vent wings may be convertible specific.

I do not have any extra. You can try Murray Park or National Moparts.
