1977 Plymouth Gran Fury Police Car

Ex-Virginia State Police Unmarked Pursuit Vehicle. 440-HP

General Information

1977 Plymouth Gran Fury Ex-Virginia State Police Unmarked Pursuit Vehicle. Equipped with 440-HP ("E86") engine, heavy duty 727 TorqueFlite, ("D36"), and a 2.71:1, 9.25 inch differential. Vehicle has 100,000 miles believed to be original.

Unit number 77-310 (paint pen written under gas door, underhood, underdeck, and in glovebox), this Gran Fury never had fixed decals or police emergency lighting in VSP service. It was retired in 1980. Its ownership history after retirement is known, but its VSP duty history unfortunately is not.

1977 was the first year the VSP had unmarked units in any other color than black. This vehicle, in Burnished Copper Metallic, was only offered in this color in 1977, the last year of the big, bruisin' C-body Mopar squads (the B-bodies took over the large police offering in 1978).

This Gran Fury has undergone restoration processes aimed at preserving it for the ages, but it retains its original, numbers-matching drivetrain, major body panels, and "police-spec" features (big brakes, auxiliary fluid coolers, heavy duty suspension, body reinforcements, 140-mph speedo, etc) from the factory.

This vehicle is not for sale.
