78 Newport Project

This Newport has been fun to work on and fun to drive but where do I stop?

General Information

This C Body started as a cheap buy from the original owner with 48,500 miles. I even have the original dealer title. The car remarkably had VERY little to no rust! Just badly faded vinyl top and paint. And of course, the Electronic Lean Burn System which may have been ahead of its time back then, but obviously the first thing that had to go!

I started with swapping the system with a conversion kit and included the following to get it running right; New distributor, wires, plugs, 4-barrel intake manifold and 4BL Edelbrock Carburetor, new gas tank, fuel filter, tires and serviced all the fluids. That was the fun part.

I then stripped the top and car to prep the car for paint. Yes, I chose a cheap backyard paint job, which I regret but the car is now perfect to vinyl wrap. (Figure I can DYI for $650)
Then on to the interior, stripped the door panels and back seats and resprayed all the plastic panels and door panels in the car and rear deck lid. Floor is solid and again no rust!

Now my next challenge is the electric windows of which only the driver and rear passenger work, although slow. (Next stop the forum to see if anyone has tackled this project.)

More pictures to come. Stay tune...
