Imperial 1967 "impi"

-67 2dr ht Imperial to be reborn as convertible.

General Information

I got this Imperial couple of years ago in a little sad condition. Some rust, wear, non-working electrics, no brakes, and so on.
Interior has some tears, rear seat is "upholstered" with beige cloth.
No original engine was with car. transmission was in place, but no idea of it´s condition. Wiring loom on engine bay has caught fire in some stage.

What is happening at the moment with Impi:
She has had engine from -95 Jeep, 5.2litre MPFI V8. Overdrive transmission(RH46) from same Jeep. Front brakes are now refurbished with new parts. Only original rotors were usable.

I have to store her at the tent ´cause I have not enough garage space for project.
This has lead to some damage for the roof of car, because the tent collapsed last winter due the snow.
Something good from that bad.. I am going to take the roof off and replace it with -65 Fury soft top. The rear pillars have rusted through under the vinyl and area under rear window seal needs to be repaired on hard top, so taking the top off is not that big deal.
Otherwise body is in quite solid condition. Rear quarter panel bottoms of course have rusted away and rear deck has lost most of its edges..

"Impi" is an old Finnish woman name and its meaning is quite much the same as virgin..

Hello and Welcome from Connecticut. Cool story. Best of luck with the resto. Please keep us all updated.

All the best luck for the conversion from eastern Finland!
Just for curiosity: A local person owns (abandoned to outside)´66 rag top Imperial which is missing the convertible top frame and interior...I´m sure it will never be restored.

Do you think there is a possibility to buy parts from that? I would really love to have convertible windshield top frame..
