My 67 Newport

Rebuild on car and motor

General Information

Bought the car for 600.00 though I could make a quick flip. motor and trans was just sitting in the doghouse not hooked up at all. Pulled motor and trans out motor was a 400b so definitely not original. While motor was out was doing a regasket and paint but found the front main was getting into the crank then everything from there on is been a fight. So had crank turned heads reworked shaved motor dipped and honed. Bought new water pump housing due to the one that was with the motor was not for a 67 new aluminum radiator, exhaust manifolds, rv cam. went to place motor and trans in the car to find the motor mount brackets was way wrong. Found a old timer who had aches of cars dating from 1940s to 1990 had a few mopars and got lucky got the mount brackets and a few other parts I was lacking. Got motor and trans set in to find the oil pan was not for a cbody so had to pull motor and replace pan. Got motor and trans hooked up put oil in. Changed rear pinion seal and fluids hooked driveshaft up. Mounted radiator was mounting all brackets to find the ac compressor would not fit with the water pump housing. So for now I deleted the ac until later made a bracket for alternator idler. mounted power steering found all the v belts to the sizes I needed.put fluid in power steering and it leaks so regasketed it. then noticed oil under the car rear main was leaking. So pulled pan for 3rd time and rear main while in the car. Not fun. Then the kick down was for a 70s so that wouldnt work got a wire one now. Got all together went to clean gas lines couldnt blow air though so changed fuel sending unit it was clogged drain old gas.checked tank no rust lucky there. Fired the motor and carb was dumping fuel and spitting so changed with a eddy 650. Had the timing off with the dizzy so quick fix. Changed other things here and there things as well.Fired the motor runs strong brakes are holding and stopping good. Hoping on over the hill of the mountain of issues I've run in too. But a quick flip I was wrong on that. An have decided to keep this car and continue to restore and cruise.
