This is an original set of hard covers that are in really nice condition. They are not broken or cracked and all of the mounting points are as they should be.
There’s no pentastar or part number on them so I’m guessing that maybe they were available in the aftermarket when these cars were new or maybe available as accessories through the dealers? If anybody knows more about them I’d love to hear about it.
My understanding is that there would have been a piece of canvas material that attached to the top of the seat back, the trim at the rear of the well and then stuck to these pieces with Velcro as shown in the pics.
Asking $800 for the pair + shipping from the Detroit area.

In addition to these I have what are believed to be somebodies reproductions of these out of fiberglass. They are blanks with no emblems or any of the attachment point hardware although You can see those spots were located in the mold. I spoke with a veteran in the hobby and he said the repops are known to exist but didn’t know more than that.
More on these later or tomorrow.

They sure look nice. I have never owned a convertible, but have heard all kinds of stories over these, from storing them, to finding them.

The right owner will be VERY glad to find a set of these....... I'd recommend posting on the IML.......

Would you mind putting a link over there for me, please? I don’t think I ever signed up. Or is that not a forum?
Or maybe I should finally sign up as I just came into a load of parts that I’m going to need to move.

Here are the reproductions.
I’m asking $200 per set for these or if you want to take advantage of an opportunity to take these reproductions to the finish line you can give me $1,200 for all 4 sets and use the originals to reproduce the attachment points and put emblems on them.
Of course shipping isn’t included.

So cool. I wish they had made them for the 67-68 too. Mush cleaner look than the vinyl cover.

Here are my original boot covers on my '66 Imperial (same car) before and after repaint. Was white originally and went blue last April. I had the Center section made ten years ago.(Vinyl)

I stated originally that maybe they weren’t factory but now I’m seeing them in all of the factory sales brochures.
Constantly learning!

Yes, these were factory items. I'm surprised they had no part # on them.

Sale pending on all 4 sets.

Still available although I did sell one set of reproductions.
The new deal would be $1,000 for the rest.

So my ‘64 came with its original red ones and they’re different from the black set and the reproductions so these are not for ‘64. Maybe they’re ‘65/6 or maybe just ‘66?

as far as im aware the 64s are different from the 65 & 66s in that they dont have the hole in the forward half for the hold down tab that the 65 n 6s have.
any other things you notice ?
i have a 64 set and a 65/66 set but they are not on hand so i cant compare em right now

haha,
ok cool, i didnt know about that diff; no wonder my 64 boots are pain in the *** to fit n won't
stay on- i thought my top wasnt going down far enough !

The black pair that kicked off this thread is no longer available.

And to expand on the difference between the ‘64 covers and the 5/6 covers I put the top down on my ‘64 and installed my originals which fit nicely after managing the top canvas as it go down into the well. Without some finessing the canvas the top did not go down far enough to get the cover on and securely fastened. That being said the pair of black originals did not really fit at all on my ‘64 for more reasons than just the forward outer fastener being different. I couldn’t really get the interior snap to snap and only got one of the 2 rear outer ones to snap so even though all the attachment points look like they’d be in the same spot and the later ones have the additional depth or height they really won’t interchange.
