Way back in the late 70's and early 80's I made a living working for a few prominent car collectors in the Detroit area. One fellow owned a bar/lounge that was classic car orientated. He commissioned several silhouette copper sculptures and two full dimensional sculptures. A Indi race car and this Bugatti type 35, that were displayed in the building. Beautiful work by a Ontario metal worker named Paul Wellington.
This fellow had several "true" classic's including 30's and 40's Cadillac's and Packard's. It was my job to keep the fleet serviced, upgraded and running. He had recently sold his bar and had run up a good bill with me. He offered this sculpture to as part payment. I jumped at it!
It is a one of a kind copper and brass item, about 33 inches and well proportioned. Approx 1/4 scale I guess. Designed to display on it's wheels or hanging by a chain from above.
