I found this car very interesting.
1941 Lincoln Continental Coupe
Those are another one of my favorites.
Needs an LS swap.
Just kidding. I actually find the engine as interesting as the car.
Really lovely car. Reminds me of the '41 Lincoln Zephyr my high school buddy, Harry had. Even though it's original V-12 had been replaced with a '51 Ford truck flathead, it was a very cool double-date car.
Is the blue on the Continental a correct '41 Lincoln color?
I have to imagine the kind souls who post would be ripping it to shreds if it isn't.
Just my opinion, but, a red dash doesn't belong in that car.
The '41 Zephyr my buddy, Harry had was also blue, but it was a dark non-metallic blue. As I think about it, I don't recall any of these early Lincolns having metallic paint. I only remember dark blue, maroon or green, black (of course) and perhaps a cream / light tan. Also, I think the interior in Harry's car was originally a grey mohair.
The 1939 Continental custom built prototype built for Edsel Ford was painted a silver Grey metallic hue. FoMoCo did have a couple met. paint hues already in their line, probably for Lincolns as well. The one in the original ad was most likely as maroon/red as the Dashboard, this was a very popular Lincoln and Continental Color in These years.
There was a yard art version here in Fonthill last year
Had the v12 to which the seller claims was brought from Calgary area
Insisted that it was worth every penny the sale price of 29,000 dollars and they were in contact with Jay Leno to negotiate a deal
I think they were smoking some serious dope...
Very nice from the pics posted
After the war when those V12's got tired MOST got 59AB flat heads stuffed into 'um 'cuz nobody could afford to have the V12's rebuilt back then. I seem to recall some outlandish # up in the 4 digit range somewhere and that was in the early and mid '50's. At ah buck an hour and ah 40 hour week it'd take a year without eating to save enough to rebuild one of those boat anchors.
Sold for $17,000us
That was a good deal.
Bidding reset to 2 minutes every time a bid was placed under the 2 minute Mark until no one bid
Went from 14,500 to the end result over a period of 5 minutes
I think this prevents e-sniping
Wrong, look again, Reserve Not Met.
looks nice but could use a 3 inch chop and air bagged.
IDK the current values... but those have never been the top dollar cars you'd think they should be...
I was never too enthusiastic about These first gen. Continentals. In fact the Invention of the Continental kit ruined Generations of other cars over the next decades with in house designed or later added tacked on fakes or imitations.
I'd take a Basic Zephyr two door sedan or even better three window coupe over a Continental any time, I think the coupe is considerably higher rated as well.
