It seems to be indoors, which is a good thing. Unless it's just a basket case underneath, it's a great deal. About the only thing better than a 300 of that year, is an equivalent Adventurer, and even more rare.

    The driving experience, post #12.

Somebody IIRC corrected me and told me our old family car was a 1956 .. does the front end of this alleged '56 in the OP (not debating -- i just dont know the answer) look like my Dad's DeSoto (digital pic from a early 1960's family Super 8 movie)?

    Untitled1.png

I am not on FB (jumped off that train one month after joining .. 10 years ago).

can someone who can see this care on Facebook PM a link that I can send to one of my kids to look up for me.

if this car is the "right one" (condition, serious seller, etc) , its gonna be in my "Fleet Storage" storage building within two weeks :)

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

I think the Forward Look began with the '55 Model year. The '54 and older were a pretty bulbous design. To me these lowered and more sleek cars were really cool compared to the GM products of the same period.

    From Wikipedia...

Exner is widely known for the Forward Look he created for the 1955-1963 Chrysler products and his fondness of fins on cars for both aesthetics and aerodynamics.

I always considered the 55-56 model years to be the 100 Million Dollar look period, but you are right it is also part of the Forward Look model years.
The Forward look Extended further back as I just learned.

Think your Dad's old Desoto may have been a 57 Desoto Firesweep..although I can't make out the large eyebrow chrome on the front headlights.

Not a Firesweep IMHO, the black trim around the lights gives it away as an upper class model, the Firesweep was basically Dodge based.

Didn't certain states have some goofy laws about quad headlights? Certain states had to have 2 instead of four? That's why they looked kind of awkward?

this photo is alleged to be a 1956 Adverturer .. hemi car it said. as thrashingcows pointed out, not my Dad's

But still a cool car. I'd still buy it .. tho my unbridled enthusiasm has waned -- if it is a complete hemi car.

Probably aint .. at that price it would be gone by now.

    Thanks everyone.

The quads became legal in some states after the 57 model years were presented, I actually like the single headlight models better in most cases.

Plymouth and Dodge used the inner set as parking lights, so they could use the double Setup in all states.

Don't get me wrong, I like them to. The ones on the blue Sportsmans look great. It's just some cars seemed like they didn't know how to center them properly like that red Firesweep. Looks like a mix of the Dodge and Desoto but they couldn't decide where to place them:lol: for certain states applications...
They whole Chrysler corporation lineup had the same problem. Some just looked awkward a bit.

A major project no doubt. It looks pretty much complete so you would have to repair or rebuild almost everything. It would be sweet and quite rare when completed.

I think it's a bargain. One of the most beautiful and rare forward look cars.
