I am replacing the UCA and LCA Bushings in my 58 Custom Royal .
I have removed Torsion Bars before in various other cars .
I have followed all the steps in the FSM for the 58 , Torsion Bars have no load on them , car is on jack stands .
The only thing i haven't done that the FSM says to do is remove the the Swivel and adjusting bolt as one .
This can't be done without removing the Transmission cross member .
I have been spraying the rear anchor and LCA TB mounts with Inox for about a week now .
The TB isn't stuck in the LCA as i can move it in and out about 3mm and when i do this the rear anchor moves the same distance .
I made some TB remover tools with no success , the TBs won't budge .
Would you have any ideas or is there something i am missing ?
Next step is a Mancini racing TB tool , there is a place in Australia that sells them .
Cheers,
Greg

Well i finally got the TB out .
I removed the anchor with he TB stuck in it .
Zip tied it to a pole under the house and filled the anchor up with Penetrol and let it sit for a couple of weeks .
Still wouldn't budge while using a brass drift to smack it down .
Used a Butane torch to heat the anchor and it eventually came out under protest . It is fairly pitted near the hex and on the shaft from having a lot of years of crap being stuck in there .
My question is , is it still safe to use it ?
Did the 58's have a TB seal/gasket back in the day .
Seems like it would have to wrap around the bar and push into the anchor .
Cheers,
Greg

ooooh dunno if you can use the torsion bar after that. At least for the 67s, the manual would stress in bold to not use heat on the anchors or LCAs where the torsion bar goes in.

You didn't get the t-bar or mount hot enough with a butane torch to hurt anything.

What I do see is a lot of pitting from rust and IMHO, that rules out reusing that T-bar if there are nicer ones available.
