1959 DeSoto

So, is the 59 Firedome still for sale? I did a search and could not find it.

If you're talking about the one I just mentioned above (EDIT: in Cabazon - 10 miles west of Palm Springs), apparently so. It belongs to a friend of a friend. The guy died suddenly a year ago and his wife is selling off his car collection. The Firedome is one of the last cars still there. EDIT: the 'Dome is SOLD!

(not in Morongo, but by the Morongo Casino...where the morons go!)

73Coup, I wanted to give you my contact info, but the PM I sent said your inbox is full. How do I get you my number?

The RB 383 was used in 1959 and 1960 US-built Chrysler Windsor (2 bbl) and Saratoga (4 bbl) models.

Canadian 1959-60 Chrysler Windsors used the B 361 and the Canadian 1959-60 Saratogas used the B 383.

Here is another 59 Desoto for sale, in this case a firedome, which I believe is the low line model. If it were not a 4 door, it would be more interesting though. Nice shape though.

1958 Desoto Sedan
1959 Desoto

condition: good
fuel: gas
odometer: 87500
paint color: blue
title status: clean

1958 Desoto Firedome. 87,500 miles; almost certainly correct. New radial tires and correct paint. No AC. Interior in good condition. Mechanically sound: Recent brakes, tune up, radiator. Some needs: Steering wheel as two thin cracks; two small dents on body. Bright work unusually nice. Western car; rust free with 318 motor. Clean and clear title.

A while back I was looking through the DeSoto ads and I think this is the same car... was a project car for a school's shop class. Same color any way. No matter it still is a nice looking car. As you said Steve, better if it was a two door. But expect to pay a premium for that.

And here is a 1959 (not a 1957 as indicated in the listing) Firesweep 2 door if you really want punishment! Not that far from you either. Looks very rust free.

Mom & Dad's first car was a 60 Desoto 4 door in a Coral color. Have a couple old pictures somewhere. Been thinking it would be nice to find a decent Desoto up here to take Mom for a drive in someday.

Here is another one in very nice condition......................$43,000

This would be a nice upgrade for a highfalutin gal trading in her '55 Coronet LaFemme!
Is that considered periwinkle or a shade of lavender?

Also, can't help but notice the striking similarities of the engine block casting to the 440 in my car, except for the valve covers. Is that Firesweep engine the stock '59 383?

@saforwardlook Steve is this a correct interior color combo? I think for the money its worth it IMHO...

Yes, Graham, I do believe it is a correct original interior design used on the Spring Special Firesweep Sevilles. Here are some Factory Brochure pages showing the option:

And here is a photo of the same interior that looks like a preserved original Firesweep Seville interior:

But it also appears to be a regular production option on the Firedome models with the Sportsman package:
