The previous owner of my 1961 Newport had relocated the battery to the boot/trunk.
I am putting it back in the engine bay but have noticed they have the battery positive cable straight to the BAT terminal on the starter relay .
The FSM shows the battery positive cable going straight to the starter relay as well .
Is this correct ?
The reason i ask is that previous Chrysler Valiants (Australian) i have owned have had the battery positive cable going straight to the starter motor.
Then wires going back to the starter relay.
Cheers,
Greg

The factory ran it from the battery post to the starter with a clamp on terminal That powered up the relay. So th actual cable was one piece.

So you can use the existing cable run to the starter then run a 10 gauge positive wire to the starter relay. I would go from the from the battery Terminal at the post to the relay. Much shorter and away from the exhaust. Or you can go from from the starter motor to the relay.

The power to the relay is what powers up the vehicle and fuse box.
