A friend of mine is working on a 1963 Newport police car, don't know much about it, 426 I think, white with red interior, it is staying white.
Last week he towed it down from Napa to have my body guy paint it for him. The car is very clean.
All we know is that the car came out of Idaho and is believed to have served in Idaho, unknown who with.

That is one rare bird. . . Would love to see more photos and info about this car.

I looked to find what the 22 under the AB for the engine code is and I can't find a thing.

I would expect to see a 413 or maybe even a 383, so I'm skeptical about it being a 426 engine car. As I understand it, in 1963, the 426 was only available as a "max wedge" version with the big port heads etc. I would expect that it would be the more suitable "street wedge" in a cop car, if indeed it was a 426.

That's not to say it's not a 426... I learned to "never say never" when it comes to Mopars!

I know the 893 is a police car, beyond that I got nowhere with the tag, the VIN is taped over, will check after paint.

Yea, the early 60's fender tags are tough to decode. That "22" engine code doesn't come up in anything I've seen.

Perhaps someone else has seen that.

I would expect the VIN to start with 893... 8 Chrysler, 9 Police and 3 1963. No engine code in the VIN though.
