Hey I'm thinking about swapping my rear tapered axle and drums. I found a 66 imperial axles and to replace the original drums, I have 11x2 backing plates and drums.

Will this set up work correctly? I have a suregrip and the axles should be the same length. The drums and backing plates are from a 90s dodge ram 1500. My original drums look like a thin vinyl record on the inside so I can't turn them...

Are there any problems I should look out for?

I don't think you can put the tapered axles in the newer housing. I'm pretty sure you need to replace the housing to do this. I put a complete housing in my 57 in the sixties. I ended up using an axle that was a little narrower and just relocated the spring perches.

Sorry, What I meant is you cannot put the newer axles in the old tapered housing. You need to get the housing that the axles were from.

I swapped a complete 68 Chrysler axle into my 61 Plymouth. Got upgraded brakes and serviceability in the process. It was a simple bolt in swap.
Find a late model axle with the same/close width as your current axle.
