1965 plymouth fury III dash

I was wanting to know if this is the original dash plain or did it have a covered dash.
looks like something went under the chrome pieces on eather side, only 1 hole on the drivers side, also dash is a dull black, a couple little rust spots on drivers side.
tried to take a couple pictures.
dash isnt a shiny black like the lower part.
i read 65 could be ordered with or witout dash pad.
any info is always appreciated.

The lack of holes indicate it came without the pad originally.

That is correct. The edge of the dash pad next to the windshield clipped on with the same wire clips as the door panels. I think the dash looks good with or without the pad.
