67 must be the last year. Looks like a Ambassador fastback.

first, i am not remotely an AMC aficionado. Only ones that ever caught my eye were Javelins -- but never owned one.

That said, I believe you are right .. I dont think the Marlin made it to '68 so that would give it a run of '65- to '67 (last year in 67, so a factoid seller might wanna mention if true?)

As far as an Ambassador "fastback", I again have no clue. My recollection is they must share the same platform on Marlins, but the Marlins were alone in their "rake-ishness" look of a then contemporary Dodge Charger,

Anyway, I found this advertised as a 67 Ambassador and a link (062119 – 1967 AMC Ambassador DPL – 3.) This is the Ambassador I remember ... there may have been a different roofline.

Some info: Rambler Marlin - Wikipedia

I remember when these first hit the streets. You didn't see a lot of the '65/66 and I don't remember seeing any '67 in real life. According to the Wikipedia link, they went to the larger Ambassador platform in 1967.

I always thought the '67 was cleaner looking than the earlier cars, but looking at the production numbers (~2500), I can see why there wasn't a '68.

For those that never dealt with AMC cars, they were a real mix and match of parts. I had an AMC Jeep Cherokee that had a straight six Chevy engine, hooked to a 904 Torqueflite! The AMC Grand Wagoneer I had had a Torqueflite with a Chevy steering column and steering box, Ford brakes and ignition system.

My Dad had a 67 Ambassador. It was Stallion Brown and a 4 door. A beautiful car.

AMC= All Makes Combined! lol

This happened to pop up today... '74 Matador X. Fastback styling! Except for those 5MPH bumpers that the gubermint mandated, I always thought these were good looking cars.... And I remember the commercial catch phrase! "What's a Matador?"

They did look great in the “sportier” trims with the optional wheels, sans vinyl top. The Barcelona was pretty swank even with its landau top and “opera windows”.

Advertised as a 1973 Javelin - my favorite year of the 4-5 years it was in production. Had to be the 401-4V though ....

not mine, but probably what I would have done to one -- my all time favorite Cragar S/S.swheels/colors of my alma mater -- if i owned one 40 years ago.

I got a 70 1/2 Camaro Rally Sport in my early days of collecting .. couldn't afford another car back then. :)

Aside, I found a private sales video of a (advertised) '73 401 car ... seven minutes long and he has a little fun with it....

Want to fire up a Marlin owner? Say nice Charger as you walk by.

Many years ago friend and I were at the local auto parts store, he was driving his 1970 Challenger and I had my 73 RR, some guy walks in and anounces loudly "Hey who owns that nice green Cougar out there!" he didn't flip out on the guy but he sure was steaming. So every now and then when the right oportunity arises and he's out with the challenger I will state loudy, "Hey who owns that sweet Cougar!" :lol:
