1967 outside door handle wood

I want to restore the outside door door handle wood trim. I want to wrap them in faux wood vinyl. Can some one show me what the original wood trim looked like back in ‘67?

I realize this post is from 5 years ago, but was your "wood" restoration successful? I need to do the same thing.
It looks to me like the original wood graining was painted on, then covered in a clear plastic cover.
