I don't know if it the three paint stripes running the length of the car on my 69 300 was an option, but my build sheet shows my 69 300 had them.

The car was repainted long ago and a molding was glued on in place of the original stripes, so there is no trace of the stripes left.

Can someone supply info on the size and spacing of the original stripes....? A photo of original stripes with a measureing tape would be a great help. I've seen several variations on repaints and the brochure offers little evidence.

Thanks, Will.

No measuring tape, but this is an unmolested original.

Looks to be about 1/4 , 1/4 , 7/16 with 1/8 between for a total of 1 3/16" +/- , about the same as the reflector.

Look at you with the reference photo.
I cant say I have ever seen those. If I have I never paid attention to them enough to realize they were an original option

Thanks for the great shot.....! That helps a lot. Those stripes really help to break up the massive side of these cars.

I can't help but wonder what methed was used to apply these stripes, I'm sure they are painted because I have a paint stripe code on my build sheet. Had to be by machine...or stensil. The three stripes running the length of the 1/4 panel would take a steady hand.

I had a 69 300 back in the early 70's. The three stripes on mine were higher up with the top stripe just below the upper body crease. They were painted on and thinner, like the ones shown on the green car above.

Paint stripes

All very helpful pictures and info. I'll use these along with some judgement when the time comes to apply them to my 69.
I have to think that some variation in the stripes would be concidered normal in a production atmosphere. (first shift on monday...... or...... second shift on friday).....?
