1969 HP 440 Color?

The engine on my 69 Polara looks more red than orange but not as red as my 67 Barracuda 273.

From What I read it should be Street Hemi Orange, is that what this is?

What is the best source for the correct looking paint?

Oh yeah Hemi Orange, and in a black engine bay once painted up, it will stand out nicely. There are a number of good paints you can use but you cant beat buying a quart of quality paint over a rattle can. I could suggest this stuff, have a look,

Actually the orange used on the 69 383 & 440 HP engines is a different orange then the orange used on the street hemi's. A look in the parts book should reveal the correct paint number, or perhaps Mopar performance will know.

Look for this .... mopar part # P4120751
Hemi orange is mopar part #P4349216

I know the existing paint is correct, never questioned that.
Just need to know what it is and where to get the best match.

To me Hemi Orange is Orange and the 273/318 is Red
Start adding yellow and you get orange, this looks much closer to a red than a orange. I asumed it was the street Hemi orange but have never been in the middle of this discussion.

Those jack stands are Orange like Hemi orange, no where near red. The engine is much darker and more red.

Lots of opinions out there that is why I asked this as I knew it wasn’t clear. I will look into that number.

Probably just the lead based paints that have cause the pigment to tint towards the red...;) :icon_biggrin:
