Does anyone know casting numbers for right and left side (non-remote) mirrors for 1970 Fury 2-door? My left side mirror is remote when the car is not supposed to have have remote. Pivot is worn out so mirror is very loose. No right side mirror. Thanks, Ben

A few years back mirrors were discussed in depth on the drydock when Scott was building his '69 vert. I copied the following, unfortunately I can't remember who the author was. Anyhow here it is.

Wow, there's alot of INCORRECT information floating around in this thread. 2999 125 off the top of my head is correct for a *mate to left remote* right side door mirror for '69 & '70 Fury. If you look in the parts book the CORRECT number is 2945 608 but 2999 125 is a correct supercede. There are other supercede numbers as well, they used to appear on Partsvoice for Arizona Parts when they still had stock.

Now there is also another right side mirror, which is a *mate to left manual* style and has the exposed ball joint.

Manual mirrors do match to both doors, as much as the 2945 608 matches a remote style left mirror. I just sold a manual left mirror 2935 337 for a 69 Fury on Ebay. The matching right mirror is 2935 338. Take note that the part numbering on these mirrors did not match Chrysler convention for using an even number for the last digit to represent a passenger side part.

For 1969 and then 1970 convertibles there were 2 part numbers for a left remote mirror, depending on whether or not the car had vent wings. The only difference was the cable length because ventless glass required a much longer cable to get around the glass which on a car with vent wings would terminate at the vent, right where the mirror mounts. That is true for both Plymouth and Dodge/Chrysler models.

Fuselage C mirrors are different than any other, yes, but also the Plymouth mirror is different than the Chrysler/Dodge mirror for '69 and '70 vintage. The plymouth mirror has a stubby base compared to the Dodge mirror. The heads are identical.

That can be taken as gospel!

Summary
69-70 Fury

Left
remote - 2935 334 - superceded by 2935 873
manual - 2935 337

right (match left style)
remote - 2945 608 - superceded by 2999 125
manual - 2935 338

Here is some pictures of my spare 69 fury passenger mirror numbers. The one picture is hard to read because it's behind the mirror glass 35459 I hope this helps.

Thanks Welder guy!
Are the last 2 pics the right side companion for the left side remote mirror?

I found this in the 1970 accessories catalog. No idea if it's correct or not or if it matches with the casting numbers.

Thanks, Tom. Great catalog info!
Did it have a number for 1970 Fury left side manual mirror?

As that was standard on all vehicles, it's not considered an accessory and wouldn't be in this catalog. But if it's following the order of the other mirrors, the L side mirror is 1 number less than the right side.

The mirror sold through the accessories catalog is slightly different. It doesn't have the studs for mounting. Instead, they used a nut insert that you could install without taking the door apart. The insert would go into the drilled hole and crush as the screw was tightened.

Externally, the screws are visible.

This is the one on my car. James @Samplingman spotted the difference.

FWIW, my car didn't have the optional right mirror, this would be correct as a dealer installed option.

Thanks John. I'm inclined to believe that if a car did not come with a factory mirror originally, the only "correct" mirror would be what you show above, with the exception Plymouth of course.

Interestingly, I recently came across an NOS mirror with the same numbers as my right side mirror, only with what appears to be "place" holders for the screw holes as your mirror has. Again, not really pertinent to the OP, but interesting none the less.

Does anyone know a source for new side mirror mounting gaskets?

Makes perfect sense.. One casting with different "secondary" operations to either drill and countersink or drill and tap and insert a stud.

I purchased 2 NOS mirrors from Marty Kohler. He says they may have the gaskets with them. He's going to check and email me. If not, I'll definitely use Detroit Muscle. Many Thanks Polara 500 and Big John. Sorry about the delayed reply. Work got a little hectic this week. Cheers, Ben

Turned out Marty's Inventory was wrong and he didn't have the right side mirror. Bummer. Good news, he had the left side manual mirror, which is stock for my Fury III. Part # 2935337 NOS Left manual mirror 1969-70 Fury, 2935806 cast on base. For the first time in 4 years, I have a side mirror that I can use to see traffic. Big improvement over the remote mirror I had, which was really for looks because the pivot is so loose that it shakes and ends up pointing no where useful. Thanks Martin.

Talking about mirrors, I'm adding a right mirror to my wagon. Does the passenger (companion) side mirror mount symmetrical with the drivers. Maybe another disscusion floating around here?
