This Hurst tribute went up for sale on FB in Macomb, MI last night. From the ad: "1970 Chrysler 300H tribute. Actually born as a Newport convertible. Original 383 4 barrel 727 auto. Beautiful paint, runs and drives well. Asking $24,000 or best offer."

This one is new to me. Perhaps @fury fan @detmatt @70 Sport Suburban or others have seen the car? It would be great to get the tag.

The seller has updated the FB listing, including the fender tag -- this is CE27N0C100903, an early-build N-code Newport 'vert. Originally FT3 with V3W white top and E6XW black-and-white interior.

This is the 10th N-code Newport 'vert of which I know directly; @Snotty has mentioned another two.

A tribute car! Seems making a car into a tribute car means you can charge an extra 10 grand for it. I'm sorry but I don't agree here. Also note someone in Orange, California is selling two 1974 CHP Dodge Monacos in their fair- condition for 18K each. Why? Well they are both Bluesmobiles.

That could've been a really nice car if they had put the effort/resources into maintaining its originality.

Let this stand as a warning if you ever plan to resell. People won't even spend 10 seconds looking at "your vision".

My thoughts exactly: "tribute" just means "restored incorrectly" to me.
Incorrectly and fast and uncaring.
Why would someone buy a tribute when you can usually get a correct original car for less or same.
Also I hate the adds that state. “ Needs this or that but it’s a quick easy fix”
Why not fix it before advertising?
Sorry that’s my little rant today!!!

I mean, I even hate "tributes" when they take base Chevelles and make SS396s, 318 (or Slant-6) Challengers and make them into Hemi R/Ts, etc. Even if the correct car is worth far more than the "tribute", the latter is still just incorrectly restored in my eyes, and worth less than the properly-done, low-line car.

Yeah, any time an ad says things like "Needs nothing to safety", but the owner won't safety it, or that something is an "easy fix", you know it's not or they'd do it. I've bought a couple of cars that "should need nothing for safety" that ended up needing quite a bit...

So it’s not just me…

Fake became a bad word, then it was clone till that became a bad word, now it is tribute.

Waiting to see what is next.
