I'm sure this car will present itself nicely after a thorough cleanup. The interior looks like HLT7 (real leather).

Manual A/C, power windows, power locks, cruise control and AM/FM stereo radio are all nice touches. Maybe it also has power seat(s).

My thought exactly. If so, then this would be the second NYer with HLT7 interior to sell in the past year (well, the second that showed up on the FCBO radar screen).

If anyone needs eyes on this one, PM me w location details. Needs under the hood picks and up close picks of the vinyl top. David

We have the term "triple pickle" for green colored cars, anything for brown? That is a LOT of brown. She looks really solid. Should there be is some concerned with the safety glass particles in the back seat. I can't tell if the rear glass is gone from the photos. The wheel covers look a bit low end on such a nicely optioned car.

“Sexual Chocolate”
But really, I liked those dark brown interiors. Our Sport Fury had that dark brown interior. A good change from all the green.

1971 New Yorkers came standard with the 440 engine, so I wonder with the low miles claimed for the car whether it really has a 400 engine? I would bet it has the 440 unless someone wasn't watching when the heater control valve started leaking and drove it too long and overheated it.

Also, I always thought it was curious that the 4 door New Yorkers with those seats were real leather whereas the 1971 New Yorker 2 doors with bucket seats were all vinyl, yet they had identical patterns in the seats.

Dash pad seems burned on top which is surprising for an Indiana car.........................so it makes me wonder if its origin might be from the southwest initially and ended up back in Indiana given the lack of the expected rust down below from what we can see.

Also since the grille surround still has 4 of the 5 bright stainless steel highlights surrounding it with only the top piece missing, this also suggests a low miles car. Most 71 Newports/New Yorkers with over about 75K miles on them usually lost the upper piece and the two sides pieces by then due to the brittleness of the tiny plastic clips that held them in place for a little while. The two lower bright pieces were pressed on so those are still usually present on most cars you see even at high mileage. Very hard to find the other ones anymore.

The owner replied to my inquiry and indeed it is a 440 engine. He said it was parked indoors to make sure it didn't deteriorate compared to parking it outside. He replied that it ran fine when he decided to park it due to his age and little use anymore.
