1971 Chrysler Newport Custom 383, rebuilding in Europe

Ok, so the story continues.. early stages of aligning the body panels and doors to the body, before sending the car off to the paint shop :) . I must admit the body shop has done a great job so far, at a fast pace without cutting corners.

& a few pics before i sold my stick shift Camaro. It was rebuilt in 2003 (body & paint), up until 2018 it did really well, even though for about 6 years i used it all year round.

update. From what i spoke to the bodyshop recently, getting the doors and all panels aligned is a nightmare, but they're almost done :) Hopefully by the end of next week i can send it off to paint.

Was away for a bit @ work, testing some new models :) too bad the weather was really sh**. Still a lot of fun!

Work was underway with the boat ;) fitted the mirrors, looking good.

The car has finally left to the painters, to have the body stripped from the old paint, get it primed & prepped, a long process ahead.

Well, still here. In recent weeks my life has completely turned (for the worse, in the end time will tell), hard to keep going but there is no choice. The project is moving along, without much (if any) input from me - this far gone i have to give it a go & finish it. I'll try to upload some pics in a few days.

Phenomenal restoration process so far.

Would you mind sharing the name and address of the bodyshop you were using?

Primed, and just before paint. The paint shop got the color real close to the original code GF9.

Hey! I'll send you a priv message, give me your e-mail address.

So the big moment has come :)
The interior, trunk, and hidden sheet metal got cheaper, more of a base coat. The exterior is GF9 code, Avocado Metallic :) Looking sweeet.

In the sun & after a little bit of buffing out the paint. Still a few more hours from the paint shop and will be done. I know the color is a little "dull" and "oldish", but I want to keep it original as much as i can. To top it off i will get the roof covered with vinyl, and have all the trim put back on on the sides. What do you guys think?

Fantastic  What was the interior like? Do you have to refurbish it or is the old stuff still okay

That´s great!

I like that you keep the Newport green like it was originally painted, besides the great work.

Might want to consider putting in a modern borgeson steering box. Most of the floaty, boaty feel vague as hell steering comes from the older slopped out chrysler boxes, along with too high of a pump pressure. If the car has a GM Saginaw type pump, theres ways to dial down the pump output pressure.

Car looks great. Turning out real nice. Cant wait to see it when it's done. Your body shop does beautiful work.
