1971 Chrysler Town & Country Three-Row - $10,000 - Longview, Texas

FB Description

mostly original (except tires, battery, carburetor - original carburetor included) well preserved 3-seat luxury station wagon - optional high performance 383-4 barrel engine single exhaust (VIN code N) tilt/telescope steering column with rim blow steering wheel, Auto Temp II air conditioning system (not working but compressor is good - has not been converted from R12 refrigerant) AM/FM radio with foot control (single front speaker) power windows, power door locks, power tailgate window, two-way tailgate, front bumper guards, rear step pads, tailgate assist handles, luggage rack, optional deep dish wheel covers (correct for year model) set of 4 standard wheel covers included, good Cooper Trendsetter SE P235/75R15 WSW tires, light package including interior courtesy lights, fender mounted turn signal indicators, Auto Speed Control, 3-speed windshield wipers, original simulated Brazilian Rosewood vinyl applique in very good condition - original Glacial Blue Metallic - paint code B2 - the tailgate area has was professionally repainted when the tailgate window motor was replaced. 1971 was the third year model for Chrysler Corporation's "fuselage styling" The Town & Country was a separate series in the Chrysler lineup sharing the New Yorker grille and was Chrysler's flagship station wagon. This wagon was purchased from the original owner runs well and is fun to drive including original Auto Speed Control - get lots of “thumbs up” on the road - needs tune up - both rear door windows need track work but motors work well, windows can be lowered/raised easily

No pics of the drivers seat so its probably ripped. I see rust on the bottom of the drivers quarter. Paint looked oxidized. Looks like a nice car but I would want an in person inspection.

It was probably priced too low given the market that still exists for a wagon like that. The reality, however, is that the car would have probably needed at least another $20K of work to get it to turnkey. Those wagons are somewhat unique in their design and not so easy to service.
It would have been informative to see what the headliner looks like in a hot weather area part of the country, what the seats look like especially in the front and 133K miles means everything must be gone through. I would have thought a 383-4 bbl engine would have had dual exhausts and there has been exhaust work on it and it doesn't look all that well done.

I think the biggest plus for this wagon is the desirable color inside and out and the fact that the woodgrain looks usable as it is. Both those things drew my attention to it.

Still for sale on FB. Great color, and a well optioned one. It must have been a dealer promo car back in the day.
