This is my first C body. I've grown to really like them and instead of waiting to purchase the "right" car that I'm after one fell into my lap. Might as well get my hands dirty while I'm waiting for that car.

I've got several questions about this car as there are some problems and I am unfamiliar with these cars entirely. I've really never even been in a C body. Seriously, not even sat in one.

So this thread will mostly be pictures of the car and a few questions here and there. If I don't get answers on this thread then I will post a specific thread for answers.

Power washed as much dirt as I could off at the time.
It cleaned up pretty nice. Didn't get many pictures of the kinda semi cleaned exterior yet.
Still needs days of cleaning.

It's in pretty good shape. Wish I could find a Cuda in this shape.
There is some rust of course. These are the only places that I could find so far.

I'm not restoring this car.
I will fix the issues that don't work and get it back to a real daily driver.
The front roof line and the rear under window roof line will have to be fixed.
I figure on painting the top blue as this car will not sit in a garage. If I put a vinyl top back on it will do the same thing again. Even here in Colorado.
 
This is the left side of the trunk where the hole is in the lower corner.
Notice the yellow spray paint that is sprayed on all three plastic plugs at the same time.
Not a lot of rust really. I fully expect that to clean up.

I'm gonna guess that car would be a Sport Fury GT like the rest of us (well except Wyatt :lol:) want
 
And the passengers side. This is the side with the big hole that was formed under the rear window and under the vinyl top. I really figured this would have been way worse.
Notice the yellow paint that is painted on all three plastic plugs. All painted at the same time. Was this yellow spray paint installed by the line worker?

How did ya guess that so easily? Of course a GT. It's what brought me to the dark side. Wouldn't have even looked at the c's really if it were not for the gt that I saw at Carlisle.

And I would really like to find a 72 Imperial 2 door. I think 72, still learning the C's.
 
rear bumper is super straight and the lights appear to be in very nice shape. Not very faded.

Valance doesn't have a dent in it. No rust either. One of the valance connectors has rust though.

Congratulations on a great purchase! It may not be a GT, however I think you're going to love it. I still miss my '71 Newport Custom I bought as a parts car. It was in way rougher shape than yours, and I still put 13,000 miles on it, could've went further. I'm sure you miss the Lincoln, perhaps this will fill the void? I look forward to seeing more of it!

I noticed these yellow spray paint markings around a body plug under the rear seat in my 1971 Imperial 4dr HT, too. And I wondered if and why a previuos owner would have done that. But I would have never guessed that these could be factory markings. Now I wonder what it means. "Body plug installed correctly" maybe?

I guess that when John started working he missed a bunch of plugs. If I were the boss, I'd put a can next to him so we can walk by the cars and see that he did what he was supposed to do. Wonder how long this happened for.

I've never seen this in an ebody , bbody or abody.

Jefferson plant thing?
 
First real question for the car.
the passengers side brake will not release and it will smoke after a few miles.
I removed the tire and tried gravity bleeding the brake line.
I got a little bit of brake fluid out of the line but it then trickeled off to nothing.
Then I cleaned the master cylinder with some rags, didn't let the fluid get down too low and removed a ton of crud that was in the M/C. See the pics, worse rag to best rag until I stopped.

Here is the question. What are the clips that are on the screws that go through the caliper? I've never dealt with those little clips before, much less seen them.
How do they come off, do they go back on?
I'm assuming the pins will come out once the clips are off as the bolts don't look like they have threads or a hex head.

Here is what the m/c brake fluid looked like.
The last pick is what the fluid looks like now.
I know I need to gravity bleed every line on the car.
But, how do I flush the crud that is in the passengers side line that is clogging it?
