Hi all, sad day, selling off my 1972 Newport. Don't wanna sell her but owner of my garage I rent is selling the building and the new garage is quite a bit smaller.
Not sure if she's far gone enough to part her out. My plan was to replace the stub frame (have a decent one from a new yorker) and patch up the rust.
Engine is great, low original miles as you can see in the pic. Replaced the heads with with a nice gone over set. While the top half was off I was still able to make out honing marks on the cylinder walls. Installed a Single Plane intake (I know I know, I should've went with dual plane, but it was a great deal so I couldn't pass it up) and a good working edelbrock 650 with electric choke. Took it on an almost 4000 mile roadtrip prior to parking her in the shop.
Replaced ball joints, tie rods, and U-joints before the roadtrip.
Took apart the interior and started disassembling the engine to remove.
I could get it driveable pretty easy if someone needs that to buy.
Comes with a set of used Hooker headers.
Decided I would post it here for a week or so in the hopes one of you guys would want it. Prefer not to deal with craigslist.
I wouldn't mind hoarding the engine and trans, so I'm not completely against parting it out as the rust is pretty bad.
Not sure what I want for the absolute entire package. So I'm open to offers (even though I hate when people do that)

I an not seeing a lot of rust on the frame rails, how bad is the front section? The trunk floor and lower quarter rust is pretty typical of a car from the rust belt. As long as the front frame section mounting points are not rotted out, I think this one could be saved. I assume if you have been driving it that the front frame section is not eroded beyond repair. Some photos of it would be helpful.
Trunk floor and passenger floors have relatively small defects that can be patched.

The stub frame is bad rust wise, however the mounting points aren't bad. Some batching will be required set the rear most driver side mounting point.
I'll be back at the shop tomorrow evening so I'll post some pics ASAP of the front section.
I really don't think it's beyond repair. Somebody from Arizona would say it's scrap, but us rust belt folk know there's potential.
