WTF, who takes out the original 440, and installs a 318 poly?

For fuel mileage he claims. Suspect the 440 was probably tired and the poly was available. Probably blew about $2.5k off the value of the car with that mod though.

Not to mention the "paint bubbling" by rear window....
Just don't push too hard on those "bubbles" or you may find a HOLE..... !

The 440 is probably alive and well in a B or E body..
Lister states they have the 440 motor... " The original 440 which goes with the car can be reinstalled and put back to original in a weekend."

Starting bid at $3500, no bids so far, located in Hope Kansas. With a non standard drive train, I do not know if they will get a starting bid, doubt it although from the photos, the car does not look half bad. Like the color combination but the poly is a real deal killer.

The third time around for this one on ebay! Should be donated to a College mechanical/body shop class for instructional repairs!

The add states that the original 440 comes with the car, along with another '73 Imperial parts car.

The biggest negative is the tattered leather seats. The underside of the car is solid as a rock. The rust on the dutchman looks superficial and my end up in some small holes when cleaned up.

It's really not a bad deal at $3500.

The 440 was a dog by '73. The Poly probably has just about the same amount of power, plus the overdrive trans, and it sounds like it's fuel injected now too. Could be a good starter car for someone, and if it doesn't run as good as the guy says, you just put the 440 back in.

I think such classes were long gone soon after my generation and replaced by music appreciation and liberal arts classes Bob.

Actually Steve, we still have these courses at our Community College! Vocational/Technical stuff.... Auto Mechanics, body & Paint, Electronics, ect. We have a Nurses Program also... Liberal Arts & Science. I knew a couple guys a few years ago that had their vehicles painted (they weren't classics) and they did a decent job! I went to school with the Instructor!

In Oregon, they are talking about teaching about "White Privilege" and "Racial Justice" so that all the caucasian high school kids can feel guilty about their racial heritage. Not so sure how that is supposed to help them find a job when the get out of high school if they do not plan to go to college. More politically correct nonsense that has no use in the real world aside from making a few liberal teachers feel good that they taught it. I would much rather hire a kid with hand skills that has been taught to think rather than "feel".

:bs_flag: These classes went on a couple generations. They did here within the last 20 years....
Presuming you're 70 +

All I can say since I have lived here about 70 years of my total 73, is that most of the jobs out here are hi tech silicon valley stuff and other such industries. It is very hard to even find a good paint and body guy and I do know that the old high school I attended dropped such classes decades ago. But I am glad to hear that these kinds of classes are still present elsewhere, because as stated by Davea they will still be a needed vocation for those who don't pursue higher educations and will need to focus on the trades for good job careers. Thanks for the increased perspective.

What’s wrong with both? I don’t see this as an either/or matter. When I went to school we had auto shop and liberal arts. They’re really not exclusive subjects!

Nothing wrong with teaching both for those who want it, but in Oregon, the auto shop, carpenter shop and other trade related classes have all pretty much gone away except a a few specialty high schools. There is an overall move away from the trades in high school. This is in large part because of funding issues, and in part because politically correct indoctrination has been given priority. The education budgets are being eaten alive by the PERS system (Public Employee Retirement System) That is grossly underfunded and has very generous benefits. This under funding eats into the budgets for local districts and keeps increasing year after year and the quality of education suffers. The under funding deficit is currently $25.3 Billion and has been growing rapidly. Up $4.3 billion last year. The trust assets are inadequate to fund current payouts so the districts pay higher premiums to fund the deficit. It is a financial black hole with no end in sight.

But it’s not liberal arts’ fault. That’s my point. Liberalism has been here forever and used to be looked on with favor. By “our Founding Fathers” no less. With flaws that should be taught, in my opinion.

My problem with modern liberalism as opposed to classical liberalism is the classical liberalism was a worthwhile academic exercise designed to promote creative and independent critical thinking where all opinions could be freely exchanged. Modern liberalism has been hijacked by socialists, communists, social justice warriors and others bent on teaching propaganda where dissent or contrarian opinions are not tolerated. Modern liberalism has essentially become a "conform or else movement". Note how skepticism is not allowed in the climate movement and how conservative speakers are banned from speaking at universities, the list goes on.... Modern liberalism of that type is not even liberalism by the classical definition. Our founding fathers were schooled in classical liberalism that taught the importance of keeping an open mind. Probably part of the reason that the founders are now under such virulent attack.
