1973 Dodge Monaco Sedan - $3,500 - Scottsburg, Indiana

FB Description

Selling my 1973 Dodge Monaco. Needs transmission but does run. It is a 440 car and has original exhaust manifolds. Pretty rare car has some rust issues but still nice. Interior is super clean. Been sitting since March. Located in Scottsburg, IN $3,500

Thank you! I’d swear that I have seen this car before: how many turquoise Monaco 4drs were there to start with? Not many still around...

Edit: found it, this is DH41T1F111722. When it went up for sale in PA in Feb. 2021, the ask was a mere $800. Nice tentative flipping profit...

CAREFUL! The tag is for an HL4 (not FQ5) Monaco sedan (not a 4dr hardtop), and it does NOT belong to this car. Indeed, DP43T3D159868 is owned by @Lowbudget in CA. Here is the tag, copied from my records in the 2021 thread.

PS: The inclusion of another car's fender tag in the ad is hopefully a honest mistake by the seller. Why he'd have Lowbudget's tag for posting, though, is a puzzle.

The guy did not anticipate the superior record keeping by Ayilar, maybe he's testing him.
Maybe it is an honest mistake like taking documents home that are not yours with the intent on copying them all for possible cash offers, who knows???

Yup that's the picture of my fender tag that I posted on here. I tried sending him a message through facebook but it wouldn't go.

CSI Ayilar, and agent Lowbudget.................... busted ! how low can this person go posting someone else's tag. I understand a flipper has to make money but not being truthful and deceiptful, too bad there isn't a 'bad flipper' registry.

I contacted him and told him to remove it or I would call the facebook police...lol. Thanks for the heads up.

It may have been a honest error by the seller (phone pic selected by mistake when posting, for example). BUT, regardless, better to alert FCBO folks.

So the seller was the same one who sold Lowbudget his car? Then yes a mistake could have happened.

He could have simply saved @Lowbudget's tag on his phone, for example if he was looking at comparables when setting his price. Not saying that's what happened, just saying it's possible.

FWIW, I save pics from ads on my phone all the time, and have occasionally selected irrelevant photo(s) when posting here from my phone (AFAIK, I have fixed all those mistakes thanks to readers' eagle eyes). That is why I prefer to post from a computer, as that mistake is harder to make from the latter in my experience.

All you guys fussin' about numbers on a postcard and didn't notice that the car went from 'lots of rust...way to rusted for me to fix...' to 'has some rust issues but still nice'.
And that those 'original exhaust manifolds' are wrong for a T-code.

Why do you think I passed on the car back then?

Seriously: I had not noticed the change in emphasis. Good catch. :)

I see rust around at least 90deg of that one back wheelwell.
Looks like maybe a large bubble at bottom of drivers fender.
Front of roof above windshield looks bubbly.
And the obvious rear window/dutchman problem.

Front seat has tears, but there are some at top of rear seat also (visible thru the rear window).
So the interior looks nice, but if you wanted to restore this car, you'd need to do the seats.

And with the trans out, you can't do a test drive.

So it looks decent, but objectively, it seems like a $1800 car to me (440 or not).

I did notice the exhaust manifolds. . . Just wanted to see if anyone else did. Good eye!

Talking about mistakes: this is DP41T1F111722 , not DH41T1F111722 (typo by yours truly,)
