1978 wiper drive cam

Hello, I am trying to help a friend with a 78 Newport. The plastic cam was broken, as usual, We just got a re-pro from Murray Park and it is not fitting together, The thickness of the cam will not allow
the parts to be assembled! Anyone else tried this re-pro piece?

Nope......I was hesitant to buy one from him until I've heard how the ones he had fabricated turned out.

I fabricated mine to the 74-77 style with the small cam......no problems.

We've been waiting to see what Murray's looked like.
A good sharp clear hi-rez closeup of it would be a appreciated.

The outer piece of the cam looks like it's constructed wrong.

I would consider modding it to the 74-77 small cam setup. A lot easier and it totally eliminated my problem with the big cam disaster.

My 78 Newport still has the working big cam setup. And when it does crap out I'm going to mod it to the small cam mod.

Bob, maybe it's an improved version.
Looks a lot more engineered than the old one.
Ummmm... Has anybody checked with Murray?

Maybe the installer is "not holding it right"? I am not the installer btw, just the friend
caught in the middle...
