I'm wondering if the 4 speed is an A833 or a stump puller.

My guess would be A833. I don't recall the low 1st geared trannys in the later 1/2 tons. Some also had the OD 4spds for better fuel economy.

I just realized that an '82 would be an OD unit if it was an A833, as you said.
    Need an old truck expert....
Somebody that hasn't gone Metric on us...

I noticed that one a little while ago... box is too short for my use and I have serious doubts about his rust free claims... the drip rail looks a bit rough above the windshield. I really would want a 3/4 ton, I just used the beater to pick up a pallet of pavers... I'd have that thing's suspension bottomed on the frame trying that.

Would not consider myself an "expert" but I have definitely not gone metric, and I've owned 5 of these trucks. The first one I drove for 17 years and put 375,000 miles on it with the only replacement parts needed being an outer tie rod, alternator (installed at midnight on the side of the road). Never even adjusted the clutch.

In my time of working on, maintaining and junkyard picking for these trucks, I've never seen one equipped with a granny gear New Process 435 transmission.

My dad bought a new red 1981 /6 D100. It came with the "Fuel Miser" package which if I remember correctly had a special distributor curve ultra lean Holley single barrel, 833 OD, 3.21 gear, and no rear bumper.

I remember pulling out of Junction Auto in Ohio, and him squeezing the little tires on it all the way through 1st gear.

    Most reliable trucks ever built..

    My current one is a 1977 D100 360 833 OD A4F61287-258B-41C9-978A-E75874BB27A4.png
