2018 ProMod Racing

I wasn't able to go to a single ProMod race or any race track or car show in 2017. I'm getting better and anticipate going to a lot of races and car shows in 2018.

The NEOPMA (Northeast ProMod Association) is a hell of a race club that races in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast area of the U.S. They are regular Joe's like most of us on FCBO and are very friendly. You can walk right up to their cars in the pits and ask them any questions and they'll engage in friendly conversation. They race a full 1/4 mile with 5.70 ETs at +250 mph runs. They always have killer race programs and mix it up and run with other classes as well. Top Sportsman, Outlaw 10.5, X275, and the World Famous 422 All Stars which are Nostalgic Super Stock car club featuring cars of the 1960's. This is a bucket list event for sure if you're on or visiting the East Coast. Once you attend once of these races you'll be back for more.

My friend Fredy Scriba, is building a new ProMod for 2018. He ran a season best of 5.81 ET with a 903 cu in Pat Musi nitrous motor. The ProMod that hes building is 100 lb lighter and will have a 959 cu in Pat Musi engine. It should easily run in the 5.70's and maybe in the 5.60 range when he the tune dialed in. It'll be an exciting race season for sure!

I'll probably go to the ProMod race at Budd's Creek, Maryland Friday and maybe Saturday. There are more than 32 ProMod's registered to race. Unfortunately, my friend Freddy Scriba won't be racing. His chassis still isn't finished at Jerry Bickel's race cars. Freddy just went down to Jerry's shop to get fitted for the seat. It'll be a 69 Camaro with a Pat Musi 959 cu in nitrous engine with a Viper 5 stage nitrous system. Liberty 5 speed with a triple plate clutch (for now) and plans to put a torque converter in it later in the season. Should be capable of getting in the 5.60 ET range at 250+ mph.

I can't believe its June already and I haven't been to a ProMod race yet this year. The scheduled and rescheduled race at Atco was canceled because of the rain.

ProMod race scheduled at "Crapitol" Raceway in Maryland on Veteran's Highway on June 15/16. I may go both days....
