I had some other stops during the trip, that I didn’t want to crowd in the other photo thread, so figured I’d do another one.

First stop for us was the Strasburg railroad museum. What a destination! Was a beautiful drive, however I’m not sure the truck enjoyed it as much as us lol. It got quite the workout trying to get here on the back roads. We were here when the wonderful rain storm hit. It didn’t last long, but man it sure flood the roads out real quick!

The highlight for me was the GG1. Awesome getting to see one in person. They even have 2 of em! One a bit rougher outside, and the nice one inside.

So frigging cool yet, you never made the Choo Choo Barn or took the ride....

I know.... Maybe next time??!! I would like to go back to get the full experience. The 611 J will be doing an excursion there later in the fall (if I remember correctly) I don’t think I’ll be able to make that, but it would be awesome to see/ride!!

There was a hobby shop a little over an hour away that I was dying to see. He had a bunch of postwar Lionel items I was all over. He was closing soon, and had to get over there.

I've been there several times. Nice museum. Also you can take a steam train from there to Intercourse, Penn and back.

Zac,

You need to stop at the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore on the next trip. You drove right past it.

So we left the museum, and set out to the hobby shop in Hanover. Nice little shop! It was a treat for me, as the hobby shop scene is basically extinct here. Forgot to take a pic, but did get a couple goodies! Place is called toy trains unlimited for anyone that may be interested.

After there, we made our way to Carlisle. We got to the grounds in the later afternoon, and was met by some members as we were unloading the car, and parking the truck and trailer. Once unloaded, we set out for the hotel.

Back early Friday morning for the fun! I finally got to put my blumo correct rear plate on for the show! My dumbass forgot to change em out when we left. Luckily remembered shortly after leaving, and pulled over to change em back out lol.

Our hotel was quite the different experience this go around. Place was empty!! It was a dive for sure, but seemed like NO ONE was there. There were only 2 other show goers from what I could tell. A newer metric Magnum, and a newer Ram that may have been a swap guy.

I’ll have to look into it!! I’d be all over it! We passed another one in South Carolina as as well.

I stayed at the Wyndam in Mechanicburg. About 11 miles from Carlisle. Very nice and excellent breakfast. Quiet and very clean.

I think it was $422 for 2 nights. Not bad for a show weekend.

There was another Bluesmobile in the car corral. I didn’t see a price listed. I caught him as he was pulling out. Said $25k. Claimed it was a real police car. Had a big block, and black interior.

Some were saying they saw another one as well, but I never came across it? Think we were the only 2 there.

We stayed in mechanicsburg back in ‘17. It was a lot nicer for sure!! We booked a lot more in advance then, and were able to save a little money.

This place was only $85 a night. So I cant complain too bad....

It's pretty safe in that area during the day. It's right next to Camden Yards. Camden Yards is a historical railroad yard (now converted into the Baltimore Orioles baseball stadium) that the Pinkerton's hid Lincoln in a train car when he was elected President. He had an overnite layover in Camden Yards to get to Washington DC. The rebels in Baltimore said they would kill Lincoln if they found him.

My Mom, and sister showed up Friday night, and stayed with us. Sabrina’s Mom and grandparents also showed up. We all hung out Saturday and took in the show. I think they enjoyed it.

My Bill was 371 for 2 nights. Two miles from the grounds, plenty of parking too. I was surprised at the comfortable beds. First time at the place . .

3rd night I bunked with dad since Diane left for a stupid M Fing bridal shower.
