I bought a 300g a few months ago. I'm looking for the vacuum hose gromet that goes through the firewall. Im also looking for details on the brake lights. Mine do no work, i know that later mopars go through the turn signal switch, is the same true on the 61 Chryslers?

My G has ac, does that change the vacuum hose routing to the engine compartment? it looks like the top half was cut off.

Thanks

You would probably be better served by becoming a member of the Chrysler 300 Club International, Inc and posting your questions on their list serve since they are specialists on the letter car 300s:

CHRYSLER 300 CLUB INTERNATIONAL, INC.

Nonetheless, I can suggest that Quirey Quality Design should be doing reproductions of the firewall grommet through which all the engine compartment hoses are routed, and the hoses/grommets are different between a/c and non-a/c cars. They acquired their current business from Gary Goers who previously made most all of the various rubber molded parts for the Letter cars and for other Forward Look cars as well. Their website is:

Quirey Quality Design Co.

The brake switch is not the same as most later cars and is a part of the master cylinder - it is a hydraulic based switch screwed into the front of the master cylinder. It has probably gone bad as is common for that switch. On my 300s with that switch, I have modified most of those switches with ones from later 1962 and later Chrysler models where the switch is mounted near the top of the brake pedal arm and is a purely electrical contact switch variety like on later model Chrysler cars of the period.

The 300 Club website is a valuable source of just the kind of information you are seeking and a lot of it is contained on the sites information library.

Good luck.

Howdy! The brake switch on the master cylinder is an easy fix. Buy new. And the mechanical switch on the pedal is another good way, but for me, I have had little issue on my 300C and this G using the hydraulic switch.

The G's turn signals can be an issue so be careful with the horn/signal switch located on the lower column. I'm currently fighting a non-cancelling issue and shorted horn circuit on my G. Recently, the horn started blowing by itself and the signals wont cancel. Remove the switch and the signals will cancel if I move the lever left and right; and then the horn stopped blowing once removed from the shaft. This just happened one day. The remote horn button functions nicely. I swear this car is possessed!
Join both 300 Clubs, and use this site as it's terrific. And the folks at Quirey are great, too!

Good luck!

Jeff at jcauto.com should have the grommet too.

The brake switch usually goes bad quickly if you are using Silicone brake fluid - with the regular brake fluid, it seems to last significantly longer.

Thanks, i just got the order from quiery. I have the pedal mounted brake switch. The horn relay is disconnected. Could the lack of relay stop the brake light from working?
Thanks

No.

Glad you did the changeover - less hassle.
