I'm sorry for venting, so correct me if I'm wrong.

The story ...
MoparMall advertises the correct looking vacuum advance for my year and distributor. Very pricey, but I figured that's just how it goes. Classic Industries is right behind them in price, so I figure I'll support the little guy.

I ordered it and got something in the mail that is not even close to what the website advertised.

So question is ..are these re-popped at all, or do I have to move on to a compatible part? I ordered one from Classic Industries as well to see what shows up knowing I can return it...with the same reason I am returning MoparMalls. Bait and switch.

I'm honesty a little pissed about this because there is nothing saying that I would be sent a compatible part. I understand that there may not be anyone making these ..but com'on just say so on the website. Don't show the pic of what you need, then send a part i could get in Parts geek, or Rock auto for $25 and charge $100. That's just wrong on all levels.

Thanks for listening...

This was a few years ago, but I bought the correct one from Mancini for my dual point in my '65 Barracuda. That's a small block version (273) and I think the big block will just be reversed. FWIW, I also fitted a Pertronix to that distributor.

Also try @halifaxhops

The one they sent you is a Point B/RB one. Hence the button up on the end yours should be a hole to fit over a pin. You need a dual point big block only and you want the right amount of advance also. Should be stamped on the arm. Not cheap. I have most but are rebuilt. 90 and a core is what I get for them, and they will out last us. 50 year old rubber cracks. Neopream does not.

Just a example.

Well... Maybe not Mancini. I just looked for one there and saw the small block version, but no big block.

All big block are drying up. Electronic ones are out there occasionally up I think those "new" vac advances Tonys parts had made.
Point and electronic. Big block DP are like I posted before.

Yes, that's it. I have the same one. I can pull it out and get the number stamped on it. It's barely pulling and quickly bleeds off the vacuum, so I can say with confidence the 60+ year old rubber is shot. Lol

I wish these vendors would pay closer attention to what they're sending you, not just selling you.

I will PM for details on this. Thank you for getting me straight on it. And thank you for your service to this great country!

The Prestolite ones are not stamped numbers.

I'm happy to take that rebuilt one off your hands..and send you mine. I'm looking for reliability as well as original look. Not sure about 60+ year old rubber.

So what does the 8 mean?

Thanks!

The 8 is the total it will add in distributor degrees. The rate is done but the spring and shims under the nipple. You need to switch them when you get the Vac advance.
