'66 fury 318....hose on passenger side valve cover??

I just picked up a '66 Fury ii. It runs, just needs a little love. I've reconnected some hoses that I noticed were not hooked to anything. Just a few minutes ago I finally got it to idle smootly. I've noticed a hose on the passenger side valve cover that comes off of a cup looking thing. Dosent this hook into the breather cover?? The cover that is on it has no stem for the hose..can I just plug it?? It's just a 318, not rocket science, but it is getting frustrating.

yeah you can just push it in the grommet in the valve cover

but NO, do not plug it! let the hose dangle before you do that, lol.
