Hey all, I just had a new issue come about. I had my temp and fuel gauges working great until earlier today. I started it up and noticed a quarter tank of gas(it was half when parked the other day). By the time I got up the road it was all the way to E, and as I drove I noticed the temp gauge never came up.

When I got home, I checked the connection on the fuel sending unit and it was reading good and had good contact—still nothing on the gauge. I pulled that cluster out and jumped both the temp and fuel gauge wires to ground—nothing! The test light on the posts showed a half-dim light(about where they should’ve been). I cleaned the board up and all the terminals and it worked for a few minutes and then nothing again. The ammeter and cluster lights both work so I’m assuming it’s not a ground issue there. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

It really sounds like a weak feed. Either weak 5.5v from the limiter, or the 12v feed to your limiter.
You will have to check your factory service manual to see where the feed comes from (ignition switch?)

I will look in my manual tomorrow. I wouldn’t mind so much about the fuel gauge but I don’t want to test my luck with overheating.

I looked in the manual, everything points to the limiter. The Fury limiter is built into the fuel gauge. I have 12V going into the “I” post, nothing at the “A” post, and a good resistance at the “S” post with a half dim test light for my half tank of gas. I am looking at switching to the external limiter instead of trying a new gauge.

Sent my gauge pack away for repair....said that it was likely the limiter, but they would not try the external one. so, I got both the mech and electronic limiters. They both measure to work, but my gauges would not. If you need to try them, I will let mine go for some dinero. pm if interest
