I recently removed and repaired my gas gauge in my 66 new yorker. The gauge cluster removal required loosening and dropping down the steering column, including loosening the bolts that go thru the firewall around the lower column support. When i re-installed the column the shifter was tight, it seems like it moved down and is now interfering the the trim collar that rotates when you shift the column shifter. I have loosened everything back up and moved things around, but cannot get it to completely free up. Anyone have any ideas?

Loosen the firewall bolts and move column in a different position than what it is currently...

Also check for bent/tweaked shifter linkage items under the hood.
