I'm thinking of a dual tone paint scheme. SO, that means that the best dividing section is the TOP trim line.

HOW does one get to the nuts/clips/? that holds the trim to the tops of the fenders/doos/quarters?

Since yer sittn down, I plan on splittin the paint @ that trim line. BUT need to know what it takes to get to them.. You know.., So I can take them ALL OFF AT ONCE, loose one or two pieces and blame my wife for that dang garage sale she had last month..

Really guys, I'm NOT from here. Just got used to them talkin like that after 27yrs..

There are two types of clips that hold that trim on. The ones that are somewhat accessible from underneath have nuts that unscrew. The rest have plastic rivets that hold the clip to the body, and you pry the trim off, leaving the clip in place. This site has a '66 Chrysler Service manual that should show more exactly where the clips are located. http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=109

The clips are gold they are not reproduced. Take you time when removing them and you will still break a few. I removed fender wells and door panels to get to the back side of the clips too. It you do need to replace any you can buy some from Murray Park at http://www.cbodies.com/ but make sure you send him pictures with a ruler for reference.

The belt trim is just unique just to the New Yorker, my 300 is different and so is the Newport so be very careful with those clips.

THIS is what I needed. Now if I just had the time this week..

Have to get things winterized here. I'll TRY and get pics as I go for future reference for others attempting it.
OR, if they find on by chance in a 'yard'.

Again, thanks guys.
