1967 Plymouth Fury III (Suburban) that as been listed for sale for awhile now.
Could this wagon really been a track car for the 1967 Motor Trend 500. Or did someone just put a bunch of decals on.

The decal job looks to be close to period correct. That having been said, it would be up to the seller to document the authenticity of the car. Most of the promo cars would have had the specialty decals removed prior to sale.

Fake, its been brought up before. Car has an SPD of 509 which is May 9th 1967, the race was Jan 22nd 1967. Was on Copart's website for sale over a year ago.

If I remember right from the 1st go around with this car, the SPD was after when the race its lettered up for happened. SPD is 509 which is May 9th 1967. The race was Jan 22th 1967. So someone added the graphics and it wasn't a pace car.

Not if thats the same car Hergfest is saying the SPD is 507. Sure its a real car, fake Motor Trend car.

I know it's not a real track car. I was making a joke, the car is a mess and has a fairly long history so far. I'm still hoping to find the answer to the origin story, why someone made it like this.

Plus, signage on vehicles didn't normally use a two-character state abbreviation back then. California would not have been shown as "CA", but would've been "Calif." or "Cal". Or, simply spelled out.

The two-letter State postal abbreviations became prevalent in overall general use in the early '70s.

That style of font wasn't around back then. A whole lotta wrong here.

I would de-sticker the car, with the exception of the stylized checkered flag on the flanks, as that is different and looks cool - at least, to me! Then, drive and enjoy!
