Hi all

I'm working on my chrysler Newport from 1968.
I got the steering column out today and I have some questions.

My steering column is missing the gearshift operating indicator lever all together. Is this a loose part and how should it be attached to the steering column?

Also. It seems like someone changed the turn signal switch. It has new wires with different colors and loose terminals.

I have cornering lights as standard and there seem to be turn switches with and without cornering lights. How can I see that i have the correct switch in my column?
And which connector housing do i need to insert the terminals in? The other side still has the original connector.

www.mymopar.com will have the FSM for download. In the FSM, is a very detailed wiring schematic, which will also detail the position/color codes of wires in the connectors. Plus any wiring which would go to the cornering light items.

Enjoy!

Mymopar unfortunately doesn't have a FSM for download.
I do have a 68 FSM at home.
If the turn signal switch has 10 wires coming out of it (including the 3 cornering light wires) it should have that functionality?

Does anyone know if the turn signal switch connector housing is still available since I'm missing that?

And anyone that can give me pointers on the gearshift indicator operating lever? @cbarge perhaps? :)

I should have the connector housing.
I'll check my stash later today.

Thanks matt!
Any chance you also have the gearshift indicator operating lever that's supposed to be on the steering column?
And should this be a cornering light turn signal switch, since it has the 10 wires?

Ten wires matches up with my Imps so yes for cornering lights. I looked and didn’t find any extra shift levers.

It just snaps into place. It is kind of springy. The tab from one side slides in and the other side snaps in.
I will see if I can fine the assembly picture and add it if I have it.

No good ones during assembly. Just cleaned parts.

Thanks for the picture!
Gives me a good insight :)
Hope I can find a gearshift indicator.
If not I will try to fabricate one.
