This is my Newport project. Have had the car for 20yrs after purchasing from original owners grandson. His Mom made him sell it as he owed me money and was taking care of it.
It's been a rolling project with periods of being daily driver in Wpg. Mb. and periods of resting while I worked on it. It has hauled much material for me and been just a side performer.
Sorry....383...holley...headers.....auto......air cond removed...painless wiring harness....battery in trunk...much more that I will try to show over next while including twist.
Currently getting in primer after full metal redo and engine apart for rebore and bearings...maybe cam.

How did you feel about the painless harness? I've heard they are anything but painless.

I think most problems come from Painless tending to build for a Chevy column/SBC, popular in street rods, which has it's own odd way hooking things up. I got it cheap and when you mount fuse panel, relays and regulators in trunk most things require adapting. Other than that it was clearly marked and well made. I am one of those weirdos who actually likes wiring.

Some very nice custom work. You don't see too much of that these days as you did back in the '50s, '60s, and '70's. It takes quite a bit of imagination as well as fabricating, fitting and finishing skills.

Yeah...the early to mid 60s was a great period for grilles. Especially for lowrider styles in my opinion.
Thanks for interest and compliments from all. Will try to keep thread updated as work progresses. sc-imgp1373.jpg

This is how it sits right now. Fr fenders are primed as well. All primer is first round and waiting for spot filling.
Next steps are cleaning/painting 20190402_082845.jpg 20190401_205843.jpg firewall and getting rad cradle/inners ready for paint.

20190325_121948.jpg 20190325_121937.jpg Some of trunk layout. There is space for jackstands and a small scissor jack as well.
The de tubbing of the wheel wells is for sliding in 48in wide material. With the fold down seats from an envoy and removing rear heater you can slide almost 11ft inside car

This is some of the craziest, yet most ingenuitive custom work I've ever seen. It's better than Monster Garage!

20190312_170429.jpg Considering its hard a harsh Winnipeg Mb existence the car is unreasonably solid. It has not been pampered
