I want to replace a car I shouldn't have sold 22 years ago (70 4 dr. N.Y.). I see them in decent condition on the web for 2-3 grand but they are too far away. All I'm finding here locally are $400 junks or $20,000 beauties to clean to drive on a regular basis.

Keep looking, one will turn up. Be prepared to spend a bit more in the initial purchase on a good car. Buying one that needs work will only prove to be a headache. Google 1970 New Yorker and see what turns up. Many times you can find many cars for sale that way, of your exact model.

I'm keeping my ear to the ground. A co-worker found a 72 Newport super clean but needed a tranny and reupholstering for $2700. I fixed his trans for $300 and he paid $1000 for the reupholstering job. We rubbed it out and polished it, looks real good. Like I said I should have kept mine!!!
