71 dodge interior reupolster

I would suggest SMS auto fabrics for the original paisley print, you'll wait a while but its worth it. Ask for some sample material to make sure you are happy with it. Post a pic of your interior to feed the masses.

SMS may be able to make you new seat covers. Ask them if they have the pattern. It won't be cheap and you will wait about a year for the seat covers.

I have been waiting for more than 3 years for 2 sets of reproduction door panels. Their business practices are horrible. They take your money in advance and then tell you your panels will be shipped in another two weeks. They have told me that about 3 times in the last year. SMS recently bought out Original Auto Interiors, their only other real competitor - so they have even more of a stranglehold on customers. I wonder how many people have died waiting for their orders and then SMS pockets the money since the trustees won't probably know the deceased was owed product and try to get the money back.

It may be, but chances are the material and installation costs could be similar. Its just a phone call or email anyway then you can inquire about custom costs.

Also consider that non original upholstery can impact any eventual sale, many would probably prefer it how it left the factory, some won't care, but it's your car/choice/money, so you choose.

Happy motoring whatever you decide.

maybe sms would sell you bulk yardage for the inserts in your seats. your local upholstery shop can do the rest.

They do sell bulk, the shop I'll be using for my car still gets the same service as written about, albeit a little faster

Not a bad idea. The rear seat is too nice to reupolster. I could take the covers off myself and have it patched. But they are a strange black paisley design and sections that are a gold color

I also have some chrysler 300 LX body black seats that are power and heated i could fabricate in but I dont think its a good look.
Somebody else used the same seats on a 69 charger and they fit pretty good but this car is wider

I’d go original if I were you, even if it takes more time and effort. Those seats are part of what makes these cars special IMHO.

I’ll be interested in hearing about your experience ordering the material. Any info about cost and speed that you can share on FCBO would be welcome. I plan at some point to reupholster Medina’s front seats with the correct materials and to have a local specialist do the work. Given the lags, I might as well order sooner rather than later...

PS: While you’re at it, you may want to replace the foam cushioning. It starts frittering away after a few decades. Others may want to chime in — @saforwardlook in particular.

SMS will provide faster service when you just want material, and they will have the correct material you need or will have it reproduced. You might have to send them emails from time to time to keep them on your fabric order but you should usually get that within 3 to 6 months. They aren't cheap though, but you probably will not find it anywhere else. They are the only real show in town for original, and they take advantage of it. I am told the owner won't hire more people because if he did, he would have to provide health care coverage, and he will not do that. So it is what it is. I would not have them make the seats unless you really want to wait a long time. They just don't have the staff to deal with all the business they could do if the owner wanted to.

I would also get new foam from your reupholsterer - they can cut it to fit using an electric knife usually. You won't find moulded foam for those seats more than likely.

I am an original guy, and don't see the purpose of buying an older car to drive and them put modern seats in it. People just tend to put an old car down when they see things like that. But you may not care - it is for your enjoyment.

Good luck.

you can request samples online from sms and they will arrive pretty quickly, i got mine in about a week and im in canada.
fwiw, the upholstery in your car isnt actually paisley, kinda similar but not paisley.
this might make the material less expensive than the paisley that was used in furys.

As it has been said just buy the material from SMS and have your local trim shop do the work.
That is what i did and I received the material real quick.
