I'm swapping my 68 fury over to 73 disc brakes. The issue I have is the pads won't fit on with the caliper over the rotor. The pads are raybestos, so are rotor, and rebuilt caliper. I thought maybe pistons not compressed... i compressed it. And it still won't fit.

Maybe the caliper pistons need to be decompressed/spread apart to get them installed.

There used to be a tool to compress the caliper piston as far as it would go into the caliper housing so the caliper/pads combination could be installed into the caliper mounting. JUST be sure to fully apply the foot brake several times BEFORE you move the car, after everything's bled out. Otherwise, that "first stop" might be mechanical rather than hydraulic!

Next time, you might consider "loaded calipers", with the pads already installed, ready to go?

Let us know how it goes,

That what I figured was the problem but these are the second calipers I’ve gotten that don’t fit. What model car did you order them for. I will try summit thanks for the reply!
