Old Man with a Hat
The car is a major work in progress now. The major rust issues are taken care of. The body work on the drivers side is about 40-50%. It's been hot and I've been screwing around with the engine trying to get the dead spot out of the throttle. Well, I have to wait til she's warm, don't take long, but the flat spot seems to be gone. So my old man came to town and we were talking about the car, I said fudge it and grabbed the keys to fire it up. Well he brought down a timing light and dwell meter for me as I wanted to get the last little bit I could out of it.
Timing seemed spot on, dwell was on the low side but within spec. So I shut it off disappointed again that I'm not driving the boat yet. He gave me a look you know the one, the one that says fudge it sounds good let's drive it. So for the first time in four years it was on the road. Got valid plates for CO still, expire in 2015
. Yeah, no insurance, on but we weren't going far nor fast. Around the block, it's a half mile block.
The only thing the old man could say was he was surprised how well it ran/drove. Brakes worked great, Transmission shifts a little late. And we seem to have gotten REAL hot. But other than that it seems to want to be back on the road. The thing I noticed is man is it running real good, and damn does it have some get up and go. I think this Monaco would take my Magnum R/T. Seriously it's got all kinds of torque.
If I get some insurance on the thing and finish out the exhaust it's going to start going on short trips til I knock down all the gremlins.
