This is the original air cleaner to my 1967 Barracuda with a BBD 2BBL
It is the same cover as the Commando 273 just not chrome.
I'm absolutely positive that it is the air cleaner that came on the car.
My grandparents purchased the car new December 1966.
I clearly recall it being there in the early 70's.
The cover is also used on the 1962-66 361, 383 and 413 4bbl.
The base is designed for a BBD 2BBL carburetor.
I have never seen another one on a 2bbl.
I have checked Nick's Garage - Air Cleaner Identification
I have emailed Nick.
Even if someone was to have swapped it out (which I doubt), what from?
The base is clearly a factory part and made the same as the 4bbl just with a smaller opening (photo to follow).

From what I remember seeing, I have no doubt it's stock original for the 2bbl 273-318 motor. Seems like I've seen something similar on a '65 383 4bbl Satellite, in a picture. Only thing is that I suspect the 4bbl filter is a larger diameter item than the 2bbl used, which would make the physical size of the similar 4bbl item larger in diameter than the 2bbl item. Have to check on that!

The '65 Chrysler parts book shows the 273/318 2bbl filter and the "2 or 4bbl 361-426" filter to be different part numbers. With the illustration showing an air cleaner top "as pictured" for Valiant and Dart. The part number for the B/RB engines crosses with a CA127 Fram, with the 2bbl 273 being of smaller diameter, according to RockAuto. The difference in the 273/318 filter and the CA127 B/RB is about 1", which would have a similar appearance to the pictured filter housing. More research might be needed?

Here is a picture of the two housings and bases.

As you can see the covers are the same and the bases are the same diameter, both have the same rolled lip at the carburetor.

The same filter fits both...

I choose to use the two bbl filter (same diameter) that is 1/2" shorter
