Alternator Interchange?

I'm parting out my '74 Dart which has a small block (318) and am wondering if the alternator will fit in my '65 300 with a 383. I know the wiring is different between the single and dual field connections, but are the case and pulley the same?

If the 74 still has an external voltage regulator it should work. I can't remember when they switched to the internal regulator alternator, but it was right around there sometime.

should be able to put alt's side by side and compare pulley and case. I would convert to the solid state regulator and ditch the mechanical regulator. I did this on the 65 sporty

Easiest thing is you jump one field connection to ground.
