Oh yeah and a 63 Imperial steering wheel. Going for a early/mid 60's kustom vib
Nice, solid steering wheel..I like the start.

Its not as good as it looks in the photos it has many cracks in it, probably going to have it recast two tone. Also if anyone out there has a good horn ring for that 63 Imperial wheel I'm in need of of one as mine is broke. Yes I'll keep updates and photos coming as progress is made thanks for the interest

Both cones are 86mm high, from the base to the edge of the "level" part. The tip is 20mm high on the AMC cone.
Both have a d=153.5mm base diameter.
The AMC base is 14mm thick, whereas the Chrysler cone base is 17mm thick, so slightly sturdier.
The AMC cone is "Volcano" shaped, whereas the Chrysler cone is "Barrell" shaped.
Alas, the Chrysler cone appears sturdier overall.
I will be receiving a sample from Germany in a few days. Will give more info then.

in my case the smaller dimensions of the AMC cone could look better as these would be going on a much smaller car.
Our Gremlin had the "Road Wheels" on it, but we went with Indy 500s instead. However, Jerry wanted to sue the AMC center caps instead of the standard AR style caps. Interesting how many times people have said, "I didn't know AMC made that type of wheel?" "They didn't!" HA!

How about scuffing up the red amc lettering
& just painting that flat area to match whatever color your car is. That’s what I would try if I ever score volcanoes for my center less road rims.

The lettering on the red ring on the AMC Volcano cap is embossed.I am presently redoing a set of the Chrysler roadwheels using the AMC cap I removed the ring and left it chrome.I painted the splines black.Instead of painting the center of the wheel argent color I stripped the paint and polished the chrome that was underneath.i have to paint the rest of the wheels yet I stripped the wheels using Apple Vinegar soaked absorbent pads & put them in garbage bags let them sit for 7 days they are completely devoid of rust/paint now.

Being that the lettering is raised i was afraid it would show through so i just removed them they are just glued on.I was debating whether to paint that area car color i think it would give some contrast with the chrome.

I thought it might pop nice with the vehicle color in that spot. Where did you score the trim rings? Are they just generic or do you need a certain kind?

Rings came with the wheels.must be after market as there is no part number on them.

I called Lapel Pins and Gary the owner said he still has some AMC Volcanos left in stock but, they are now $80.00 each. I also asked him about the Chrysler caps and he said it shouldn't be that hard to re-pop them but he doesn't remember what they look like....I'll try to send him some pictures off this thread.

Interesting thread, but seems one thing has been overlooked.
The Multi-Style cap is 1/4" larger in dia at the base vs the Chrysler cap.
I have a variety of caps here - 70-74 Road Wheel, late 70s 'thin' diecast Magnum, aftermarket 'AMC' Multi-Style.
Roadie cap is a hair over 6" dia, Magnum cap is about 5-15/16", and Multi-Style is 6-1/4".
Compared them for fitment on a Road Wheel and a Magnum GT steel wheel (which looks to have a similar hubcap-ridge profile as a regular stamped wheel of the 70s, except it has no nubs for a hubcap - it's basically a 7" version of the Super Coupe wheel).
The Magnum cap and '70-74 cap fit fine on the both Magnum GT wheel and the Road Wheel.
The Multi-Style (which sounds like same dimensions as the original AMC cap) does not fit fully into the Magnum GT wheel nor the road Wheel. There is a larger gap between cap and the lugnut part of the wheel. The Mopar caps also have a gap, but they seat fully with no wobble.
I stacked some metal under the cap and seems about .191" roughly to get the Multi-Style cap to sit solid and with no wobble.
Now, one could surely bolt the caps on and snug 'em down without noticing that, or without caring about it. But it seems to me that you'd likely get some cap wobble (which makes your car look bad on the road), and you'd be putting extra stress where the bolt bosses blend into the cap.

Comparison of the caps between parallel lines. All are aligned at the aluminum at bottom of the picture. Top line is in parallax, but Multi cap is clearly larger diameter.
