I decided to join today and share some pics of my 65 Chrysler New Yorker after seeing someone else post one up. Been lurking a bit here and there, figure its time join in... Its got the 413 too... 727 torqueflight, center console (not many had that), edelbrock carb, Just removed all the A/C junk, it was cheaper than rebuilding it. Plus I added valve covers, degreased and painted the motor etc and all that junk was in the way.

The door panels were wasted due to water coming in.. so I had to fab my own.. yeah thats a casket handle

Welcome aboard! It looks nice. Do you have a picture of the engine bay? Are the flames painted? A lot of good people on this site.

:ciao:

I'll get pics of the engine bay up when Im done with it..

those flames are a vinyl, they will be replaced with painted when I repaint..

I did a photochop of what I want to do to it.

must be the head of the welcoming committee huh?

the clear lenses had to be polished up, its missing the red glass inserts so I am running some red bulbs I picked up on ebay.. they work great..
engine - I had already stripped out the A/C.. that was about 100 lbs of junk ..
that's the factory cruise control over on the right. It has a mind of its own..

BTW, I would never run 20's.. Im not going to butcher my car. If the door panels had been in any shape to keep I would have. they were so damaged from water and the previous owner running the car in the winters that they couldnt be fixed. Instead of trying to adjust the windows the guy used window sealer for house windows which he stuck along the rubber seal.. which only made things worse. He is also the one that put the vinyl on there.. I would have painted flames.. yeah its kind of cliche BUT there is so much space there I can't just leave it bare and I hate scallops.

those are the very first door panels/interior work Ive ever done. I learned alot in that process, If I did it again they would likely look different. But I'll leave them now until they need to be replaced.. I continued that look into the back seat area too. when I replace the radiator that was destroyed when my water pump went and the fan ripped up the radiator,, I can go back to the interior..

Not building her to win shows or look original.. building it to drive and have fun..

Nice clean-up, but change out that single pot master for safety sake.

Here's my cleaned up 413, and you can see the new dual master

Nice car! another big Chrysler is saved, and I kind of like the flame effect b/c your right there is so much space there. Paint isn't permanent and I don't think your doing the "period correct" thing so more power to you. However if you ever do decide to go with twenties and hydraulics and fur seat covers then I take everything back, but a few mods here and there to fit your taste is no big deal for me. Nice engine detail.....More pics please!

Nice before and after pictures. I would definitely think about a dual chamber master cylinder for safety's sake.

Welcome to the site from the Motor City! I like what you've done and your plans, make the car yours.

yeah.. your motor is way cleaner than mine.. I didnt pull my motor.. that was ultimately what I wanted to do to it, just dont have that much time or patience right now. Maybe one of these winters I'll pull it out and do it better.. I used about 3 cans or degreaser ,, taped off lot of stuff and painted her up.. May not last long, but that's easy enough to fix.

the dual chamber is in the works.. Its next on my list of things to buy. Was there one in particular you guys use? You just install the dual chamber and run both lines into the single line from the single chamber?

that alternator bracket is from mancini's .. about $45. the alternator ran off the A/C belt (2 of them actually) and was up on top of the distributor, had to move that out of the way for sure.

A quick diagram of the changes needed. Everything assumes 4 wheel drums.

1 Remove the line that goes to the rear and plug the hole with a threaded plug
2 Install a coupling on the rear line and extend it to the front chamber of the new master
3 Install the original line from the old master into the rear chamber of the new master

The fitting on the frame rail is just a distribution block and not a proportioning valve.

WOW, you got your motor that clean without pulling the motor?? Good Job. I need to do that some time.

I've been thinking back and forth about removing all my A/C parts too. Was it difficult? How did you plug the firewall penetrations? Did you need to find different brackets for your drive belts? Sorry so many questions...much involved...I'm thinking about doing it b/c removing all that would free up so much space under the hood. What's holding me back is that my a/c system (still) works.

I wouldn't remove the A/C...especially since it works. You'll really regret doing that down the road.

yea I know, but the compressor takes up so much damn space....and extra h/p as well. I'm seeing other cars without A/C and it looks so uncluttered under the hood.
