Another orphan found our driveway...

It's like I've been here before....

This weeks job in between painting the blumo is the floors on the truck. Ouch!!!!

Sabrina is going to town with the needle scaler right now. Should be a fun week.

Gotta pull the bed too, and fix the front floor of it. At least the frame is solid, right?? lol

Luckily I still have quite a bit of sheet metal left over from the blumo.

We just picked the truck up from the shop yesterday. They did a whole bunch of work to her. $1300 worth. She is driving MUCH better now though.

What work did the shop do?

A bunch of stuff here and there that added up...

Power steering pump
Exhaust leak
Still had a hot start problem. Turned out to be something with the new dizzy we installed. Luckily I had a spare that seemed to cure it, along with timing the engine.

Rear brakes weren't working. I bled em a while back, but the peddle got soft after a day. They got the wheels off, and everything behind em were trashed, including the rear end seals. So rear end almost rebuilt. All new hardware out back.

Also new flex hoses all around

There's a few other small things I'm forgetting... the bill was good till they got to the rear end lol. Shop got the parts for it,and bent us over a bit. Oh well... Most of the other parts were supplied.

They have been pretty good to me for the most part. They never turn work down when I bring something in, where all the other places won't touch.

I'm sure they are loving us right now. We picked the D300 up, and dropped my 03 1500 off for driver side ball joints, hub, and tie rods.

Between work, and busting *** on the blumo, and other stuff, I just don't have time to do it all...

Most of the bad is cut out on the passenger side floor. Got a few patches going on. Woo!

It's a fun hobby, right?? Soothing, relaxing, almost theroputic... hahaha

Late nights working on her. Gotta get the bed pulled soon. Still need to figure out what to do about the drip rail... as well as finish the floors up. Bunch of parts, and paint on the way. Although, I won't be painting this one! Let a buddy do it.

Think we picked out a new color. Atomic orange pearl. Think it will go good with the tan interior. Hoping to do a quick bodywork session, and get her painted... we will see.

I had a '79 Trailduster in Sunburst Orange.... It had a tan interior and look great!
When I decided to have my Black '89 Esprit painted Chrome Orange I was concerned also because of the tan interior, but it looks great too. You made a great choice. Check out that original Sunburst Orange they had back then... was a pretty cool color for the time.
This isn't my Trailduster but close...

That is so G D Cool

Damn... next time I need something welded... I'm just gonna mail it to you.

Please dont. I'm tired of this s#it lol.

Got the driver side just about done today. Ran outa gas... really need to invest in a bigger bottle! Gonna need another bottle just to fully weld up the passenger side I think.

That looks great!! Feel much better now! Sabrina kept hemming and hawing over colors. She wanted blue, but I just don't see it on this truck. Green was another possibility. Black also.

Finally settled on the orange. It's on the way. Gotta get the bed situated to start spraying it.

All you need now is a Cummins. :poke:

Brother, I've been barking up that tree since the trucks been in the driveway. LOL. It WILL happen. Just later down the road. My buddy she got the truck from runs a Cummings performance shop. He's eagerly waiting to drop one in. He has a few 12 valves to choose from. But we just spent all this $$ to get the 440 running, and everything else. When she gets another DD it will be more I question.

Hell you can just make panels fore I will weld them in.

That truck definitely needs one but wear out the 440 first or until the 6 mpg get old

Your pretty safe, the NYB doesn't fit in the mailbox... I really should find the time to patch the one 1/4 that wants one. It would be better if you did it though...

The old cherry picker came in handy today.

Got the front edge cut out, and getting replaced. Also persuaded the front top rail with the sledge hammer, and 2x4. It got bent in, and was touching the cab.

I'm not gonna spend a ton of time on this bed. Has a bunch of pin holes in the floor. Still solid, just not the best looking. Gonna treat with a rust concert or and paint. Then throw a mat over it to pretty it up. It has many years left, but if Sabrina wants down the road, we will find another bed to replace this one.

Has a bunch of holes up top from various CB whips, bed rails, and tool boxes. It was used as a truck lol. I'll get em welded up, and the outside looking purty.

Youre a madman

Been a busy weekend. Spent another 12 hours on her today. Had to run up to Wally World, and get one of those awnings to hide under front the sun. Was pretty bright/hot lol. Sucks not being inside the garage!

Got the bottom of the front wall welded up. Still have a couple pin holes to get. Also stripped the passenger side down, and got all the old paint/bonds off. Back corner behind the bumper was the worst. It's getting fixed the same way..

Also had a few pin holes towards the front bottom. I filled em up with that all metal. As I said before, I'm not going all out on this bed. Just getting it looking good as a daily driver for now.

Also got all the holes up top filled with weld, then a coat of filler over. The best was getting the big *** dent in the side taking care of. Pulled out the old slide hammer, and took care of most of it. A couple coats of filler straightened it out. I'm very happy how it turned out. Still have to finish the rear of the panel, a couple more dents to fill, and spray some filler primer over it. Looking good though!
